Sunday Dinner

This morning, we put a roast in the crock pot and made two kinds of jello. When we got home from church, it smelled like Sunday! A roast in the crockpot, cooked carrotts, potatoes and rolls...with jello and cool whip parfaits for dessert. Jeremy mentioned that it has been a long time since we had a "real" Sunday dinner. I agreed.

But that made me think...What is a REAL Sunday dinner? I had a friend in high school whose family had taco salad every single Sunday. That was there tradition. When I was young, my mom always made a "better" dinner on Sundays. She would make shrimp chow mein, or keilbasa and potatoes or albacore crepes or roast, in a crockpot.

So, I wonder...what is YOUR real Sunday dinner?

  1. We've never been the traditional Sunday dinner type. And that was an adjustment for Steve coming from a family that had roast and potatoes EVERY SUNDAY. But he has adjusted well. Sometimes it's just leftovers from our dinner out the night before. Sometimes it's just big salads. Occasionally I'll throw a roast in the crockpot, but it's usually for a big occasion like Easter. Am I a bad wife?

I'm glad you aren't the roast a potatoes gal EVERY SUNDAY. Although, isn't it a pleasant surprise to come back from church to those wonderful aromas? It makes you appreciate it SO MUCH more!

  2. It is the simplest meal ever but it is my comfort food that we always seem to eat on sundays...Grilled cheese and tomato soup! I am soo glad that my boys love it because it reminds me of being a kid at home.
