We just got back from the most amazing trip, ever! Thursday, we drove to Sacramento and spent the afternoon swimming while we waited for everyone else to meet up there. The kids were so happy to be swimming after a long drive!
Friday morning, we woke up and just the boys and I took a long walk along the Sacramento River with Grandma and Grandpa. I didn't take my camera, so I had no pictures, but it was beautiful! The boys even got to see a pelican!! Then, we headed over to the Railroad Museum. The boys were fascinated by all of the locomotives we were able to see! Uncle Victor's parents worked on the Railroad, so he was able to tell the boys some cool stories!
Then, we headed over to the State Capital. We had a picnic lunch on the grounds of the Capital Building. The boys loved playing in the trees and sitting in some shade. Then, our tour began inside. We got to go inside the Senate Chambers (SO cool!) We got to go inside the Press Room and my cute Grandpa stood behind the podium for a picture or two. My Grandpa is perfect. Security even let the boys, my mom and I go inside the Governor's office. We didn't get to see Governor "Terminator" and we weren't able to take pictures, but it was super awesome anyways!
Saturday morning, we headed over to The Castle Air Force Museum. There were TONS of old ward planes. The tour guide was super nice. He let all of us climb into one of the old bombers. We liked the "Virgin's Delight" the best! We got all of the background on each plane and the boys were able to see a bomb and a missle, or two. Uncle Victor threw in a few more cool stories that the boys loved. It was a really neat tour!
There was a little break down, of sorts. Logan and Skip's battery died. Whoops a daisy! So, we got to go to Costco's cafeteria for lunch and a new battery. Colton got to share his ice cream with Uncle Allan and Jackson, Logan and I shared our left overs with Uncle Skip! Oh, how we love Uncle Skip!
While they were fixing the car, I got a picture of our rental. One word: HEAVEN!
Then, we were back in the car to head to Clovis. We swam a bit, then headed to the Sugar Pine Railroad up in Yosemite. This was my favorite part of the trip. I am telling you... you have to do this! We had a great big barbecue dinner, then loaded up on the train, took a ride into the woods (even deeper in the woods) and had a bon fire with singing around the fire. It was SO fun! Kaydon was attached to Uncle Victor. Colton was attached to Holly. Braxton was attached to Katie. And, Jackson still likes his Mommy. Then, back on the train for a ride back to the cars. I loved every minute of it.
Sunday was a day with family. Uncle Victor came with one of his Harley's. He brought the boys tons of new swimming fun stuff. He swam with the kids (teaching them how to be Navy Seals) and they had a blast. Then, I climbed on the back of the amazing bike and he took me out to Grandma and Grandpa's house. I pretty much didn't want to get off that bike! We played with the horses and the boys got rides on the other Harley. We had a fantastic family dinner and then we got to go to Uncle Allan's for fireworks.
We did NOT want to come home. My boys told me that they want to move to California because everyone who loves them lives there. Uncle Victor spent SO much time with them and they miss him already. Uncle Allan is so good with my kids. Grandpa couldn't love them any more. Katie and Luke, Shanna and Tiffany and Holly... Aunt Cherie hiking with Kaydon... Grandma planning this whole thing... Aunt Adel pulling me aside and telling me to just have a fun time... Uncle Logan and Uncle Skip making us all laugh til we peeed... Aunt Tonya just plain making me happy... Taylor telling me he will NOT buy me a sapphire... My mom helping so much... The boys laughing and smiling and being free and playing and running and being little boys... it was PERFECT.
