Sweet Jackson. He is my cautious, okay SCARED TO DEATH OF EVERYTHING, child. Now, I may have had something to do with that. It may have been the "Yelp!" or the "STOP!!" or the "DON'T DO THAT" that I yell often. It may be the constant Trauma, Life in the ER episodes that are shown on our television. It may be that I AM SCARED OF EVERYTHING. I dunno. Anywho, he is scared of most everything. BUT, he tries. AND, he attempts. Which is a whole lot more than I can say for myself!
Tonight, he wanted to jump off the high dive. He got up, went back down, got up, went back down, got up, went back down. Yelled at his dad a few times in between those going up and coming back down episodes. Told his dad to get in the water, get out of the water, get back in the water. Told his dad to count to five, not to count, COUNT!
The pool closed. There was a crowd. Me, Emily, Braxton, Colton, a strange mom standing off in the distance, the numerous children standing at the bottom of the high dive waiting their turn...You get the picture. The pool was closed. Jackson is standing at the top, on the edge of the high dive. The lifeguard is giggling. Jeremy is talking very softly to Jackson. Jackson is yelling at Jeremy. I am saying (under my breath) you can do it, you can do it, JUST DO IT ALREADY! Emily is trying to bribe the lifeguard to let her jump off with him. I EVEN OFFERED TO JUMP OFF THAT THING!!!
Finally...and with no hesitation, he counted to three, closed his eyes and JUMPED! He DID IT! He did it. Jacks, you did it buddy! No more first time jumping off the high dive. You did it! We all cheered so loud...did you hear it Jacks? We were clapping and whistling. You did it Jacks!
Yeah Jackson!!! You are the best!! You did it!!! Nice job.
