Kindred Spirits

Jeremy and I affectionately call Shelbi and Braxton our "twins." They were born seven days apart. From day one, they have been so much alike in so many ways that it's just easier to skip over two names and yell out "twins!" They are usually inseperable. Where one is, the other is close by. They cheer for eachother. They play with one another. They make eachother laugh. And, they comfort eachother so sweetly.
Today, Shelbi was riding her bike around the block by herself. Colton came home on his bike and said that Shelbi had fallen. Within an eighth of a second, Braxton was on his bike and on his way to rescue his sister. She came around the corner at the same time as him, walking her bike and sobbing. Braxton immediately hopped off of his bike, held her, and grabbed her bike out of her hands.
She made it home to me and we cleaned up her knees. They were scraped up, but no blood. She was traumatized by the whole incident, though. Braxton left his bike where he had met up with her and walked hers home, then went back to get his. I was so PROUD. After he was done, he came in and just put his arm around her and quietly told her that everything would be alright.
I hope that they will always be kindred spirits. I hope that they will always be as close as they are now. I hope that Shelbi will always know that she has a twin brother in her corner. I have great kids!
