One of my greatest joys...

I need to explain a little about my upbringing to help make sense of this blog. I grew up in a baseball household. My dad played for The Pittsburg Pirates organization for two years and then coached until I was 16. There was always baseball in my home. I learned to love the sound of baseball, the smell of baseball, the sight of baseball. I loved it all, and I still do. We had several players live with us from college teams and remained close to them, so we were able to go watch them professionally. I have met a lot of players who I fell in love with, and who I will never forget.

I am a big fan of the New York Yankees, who really stink this year...but Derek Jeter is still hot!! Jeremy is so good to me. He buys me Yankees memorabilia and makes sure I can always see the games on TV. He is not a huge sports fan like I am, but he will sit with me and watch it all with me.

Tonight, we went and watched the Postal Service's softball team. It was SO GREAT. I know it is not at all the same as watching baseball in the stands with sunflower seeds and peanuts...singing during the seventh inning stretch...having coaches scream at the umpire...watching fans throw things onto the field in their drunken states of mind...but it was something really close. I LOVED IT! There was even a squeeze play that I was thrilled about!
Baseball will always be one of my loves...always...
