I made strawberry freezer jam!!! All by myself!!!
Now, listen. I am fully aware that I am surrounded by a whole lot of women who are FAR better than Martha Stewart. The list goes on and on. You all can do EVERYTHING! My mom and my grandma have always bottled fruit and vegetables...I have always eaten it...never participated in the whole making of anything!! Until now! I did this all by myself. Granted, there was no cooking involved, or steaming, or blanching, or straining...but we all have to take baby steps, right?! This was my baby step...TEN bottles of yummy (I double dipped with my index finger!) strawberry (NO chunks, mind you) freezer jam! My life is ALMOST complete!
It looks FABULOUS!!!! I am so proud of you, Heidi! Or rather should I say...Martha!!!

Heidi, I so feel your joy! I made some last week and I couldn't have felt more domestic! Maybe someday I'll branch out and can something else...you'll have to try peach freezer also--mmmm. Oh, by the way did you find a great deal on strawberries somewhere?
ReplyDeletewelcome to the wonderful world of canning. I love to can! I think it's kind of a lost art; sad that a lot of people won't try it. It's not hard and it is so satifying to look at all the work you've done. Well done, great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Girls!!! You are all included in that little part about being surrounded by people WAY better than me! Beck, I got the strawberries at Costco. Four pounds for $4.99. I have no idea if that's a good deal, but I got them :)
