This weekend, we were able to have my cousin down here from BYU-Idaho. The kids have LOVED it and so have I! We had a lot of fun getting ready for my mom's birthday party. We made lasagna and cupcakes and sugar cookies and Shanna and the kids decorated. I think my mom really loved it. I know the kids did. They love to celebrate Nana. And so do I. Today is my mom's birthday. My mom and I never really had a terrific relationship when I was growing up. We had that typical mother-daughter relationship...butting heads A LOT. When I became a mom, I saw things different, and within the last year I saw things VERY different. She is a blessing! Mom excels at everything she does! She is a great cook, a great seamstress, a great housekeeper, a great listener, a great operations manager (been called the best), a great friend, and a GREAT Nana. She loves my six kids with every part of her being. She does fun things with them, she wipes their bleeding knees and their snotty noses, she loves on them and she brags about them everyday. She is honest, dignified, full of integrity, beautiful in every way, fun, and loyal. She is smart and independent. I am SO proud of her! She has gone through her trials with strength and grace. Mom, I love you!!! I am proud of you!! You are a daughter of God and He is pleased to call you such, I am sure of it. Mom, Happy Birthday!!!
Here are a few pictures of the festivities:
